Get Involved

Behind every child who beats the odds is a parent who refused to give up.

Whether you give, gather your community, or share what you learned, there’s a role here for you.

A parent connecting with the Imagine Reading community

Where your gift goes

Every dollar funds the infrastructure families rely on.

We are not funding a service that competes with the tutors and evaluators already doing this work. We are funding the connective tissue: the guide that is free forever, the hub that tells a family in a small town who is actually near them, and the film that gets a whole community into one room. These examples show the scale of what different gifts make possible.

$25

Equips one family with the First Steps guide and a meeting checklist.

$100

Connects one rural family to specialists via the hub.

$500

Adds a whole region’s worth of vetted resources to the national hub.

$1,000

Funds one state’s full resource build-out.

Host a screening

Bring Left Behind to your community.

Request a screening kit, everything you need to host and turn a film night into action.

Screenings are the fastest thing we do. After a single viewing, the share of the audience who understood how race and class affect access to dyslexia support rose from 34% to 74%. That is a room full of teachers, school board members, and parents leaving with a different picture of the problem than the one they walked in with.

Schools, libraries, churches, PTAs, film societies, and district staff have all hosted. You do not need a cinema or a budget. You need a room, a screen, and someone willing to stay for the conversation afterwards.

  • Film screening license + streaming link
  • Facilitation guide + discussion questions
  • Parent advocacy handout, “What to do next”
  • IEP rights one-pager by state
  • QR code link to the resource hub
  • Expert Q&A support (select events)

Built by parents, for parents

Help us build the National Resource Hub.

Our goal is a national hub for parents, created by parents, a place to connect with other families at every stage of this process. We’re stronger together, but we need your help to build it: tell us what helped, and what you most need right now.

1 · Your story
2 · Share what helped
3 · Your district

What’s working?

What’s hard?

4 · Help us build the hub

We never share your story without your permission. Nothing here is published until you say yes.

What happens next

No surprises after you hit send.

The most common reason a parent closes a form is not knowing what it signs them up for. So here is exactly what each one does.

If you give

Your gift is processed securely through Bloomerang and your card details never touch our servers. You get a tax receipt straight away, because we are a registered 501(c)(3). After that you hear from us when something actually changed, not on a schedule. We never sell, rent, or trade donor information, and you can stop the updates with one click.

If you request a screening kit

We reply with the film license and streaming link, the facilitation guide, and the printable handouts. Then a person talks it through with you: room size, who to invite, and what to put in front of people at the end so the evening turns into something. A screening with no next step is a nice night out. We would rather help you run the other kind.

If you share your story

Nothing you write is published unless you say yes, and there is a box on the form to stay anonymous. What you tell us goes into the hub as a resource for the next family: the evaluator who was worth the drive, the district that moved when you put it in writing, the thing you wish someone had told you two years earlier.

Every action helps the next family.
