Program dollars stay in programs
We keep overhead lean so your gift reaches families, and we name our operating costs rather than pretending they are zero.

Where your money goes
In priority order. We publish verified figures in our annual report rather than estimates here, and our 990 is public once filed.
The largest share of every gift goes here. We are building a 50-state database of rights, programs, evaluators, and proven models, with rural coverage built in from the start rather than added later. Most directories are assembled from whatever is easiest to find, which is why families outside cities open them and see nothing within two hours of home.
First Steps stays free, with no sign-up and no paywall, permanently. That includes the early signs checklist, the questions to ask your school, the plain-language explanation of what your child is legally owed, and every guide we add to it.
Keeping Left Behind traveling to new communities, and keeping the screening kit stocked: the film license, a facilitation guide, the parent advocacy handout, and the state-by-state rights one-pager that people take home.
The unglamorous share. Hosting, the donation platform, insurance, and the filings that keep a 501(c)(3) in good standing. We keep it lean, and we would rather name it honestly than pretend it is zero.
Our promise to donors
We keep overhead lean so your gift reaches families, and we name our operating costs rather than pretending they are zero.
Our 990 and impact numbers are open for anyone to see once filed, and our annual report carries verified figures rather than estimates.
You will hear what your gift actually changed, not just thank-yous, and not on a drip schedule designed to ask again.
We never sell, rent, or trade donor information, and we never share donor names or giving history with outside organizations.
Other ways to give
Some of the most useful gifts we receive never touch the form above.
Many employers will match a charitable gift dollar for dollar, and a surprising number of people never check. If yours does, your gift is worth double for the cost of one form. You will need our name and our Tax ID, 99-5139425.
If you give through a donor-advised fund, you can recommend a grant to Imagine Reading using our legal name and Tax ID. Write to us if your fund administrator needs anything else in writing and we will send it the same week.
Plenty of our donors were the dyslexic kid, or raised one, or taught one for thirty years. Gifts in honor or in memory of someone are welcome, and we will note the dedication if you tell us who it is for.
If money is not the thing you have right now, that is genuinely fine. Hosting a screening or adding what you learned to the national hub moves this work forward as much as a donation does.
“I thought I was alone in this. I wasn’t. Knowing that changed everything.”
